“This is the first Onyx Black Pia and was sent to Steve as the prototype for his approval.
The original idea was use VantaBlack, which is one of the darkest substances known absorbing 99.9% of visible light. But the color is trademarked and Hoshino could not get a license to use it. Much research was done to come up with the darkest light absorbing black that could be found. After much trial and error, the Onyx PIA was born”.
