what does steve vai use for that 12 string synthy effect? i really want to know because its fantastic!!!!

1- it was a 12 string guitar in open tuning
2- it could have been attached to a synth unit like a roland at some point or another

3- half that stuff was added later in the studio

As far as I know, it's the 12 string neck of Steve's white triple neck Jem, going into an Eventide H3000, then directly out in stereo into the console.
