Ibanez JEM 7V Borken String Help

Hey there. This is my first post, so sincere apologies for anything I did wrong.

I got an Ibanez JEM 7V and I love it, up until the moment the A string broke. I tried to put a new string on, but that only makes the tremolo go up, thus raising the pitch of the other strings. I am new to this guitar and have never used/experience a tremolo system like this. I was just wondering if there was anything I could do to fix the string/tremolo? I've tried looking it up but I couldn't find anything about replacing broken strings, just replacing all the strings. And those didn't seem to help me. Any help is greatly appreciated! I really love this guitar but trying to figure it out has just frustrated me!

Chances are that you aren't using the same gauge (thickness) of strings that the guitar came with. I'm sure the folks over at jemsite.com would be willing to help you out.
