Acoustic 12 string and harp guitar, and Annmarie on violin would be
pure bliss to my ears!

Unless it was new material written specifically for acoustic instruments, I'm not sure I'd like that to be honest. Steve's music is Steve's music and its crafted for the instruments he has in mind for the effect/message he wants to convey. So to render it down to 'acoustic instruments only' I think would completely miss the point. It'd be like translating a poem into another language-it can be done, but the poet carefully chooses a word or phrase to fit their concept and that word and phrase wouldn't always translate into another language and so the beauty and meaning would be lost.

I think what I would like in Steve's case would be a "mostly" acoustic album with electric guitar passages, sounds or
solos..because it just wouldn't be a Vai album without some Evo sounds

So many people/bands have done it now that for me the novelty has worn off. I purchased Nirvana unplugged, Alice In Chains Unplugged & of course the E.Clapton one. I have yet to get the Alanis Morissette's one.
If Steve put out an album like that you all would buy it. I know I would.
Hasn't Korn done one?
lol....They did an all.
Now... a Slipknot unplugged. I would pay just to see how they did it.

You're talking about unplugged performances...I think the title of this thread suggests a new album of acoustic material.FRETPICK wrote:So many people/bands have done it now that for me the novelty has worn off. I think one or two acoustic tracks in a new album would be good.. but I don't think that an entire acoustic album would work (at least not for me)
I rather prefer more progresive, complex, and weird stuff for the new album... really liked the first tracks of the DVD (Now we run, Ooo, Building the Church) It was so powerfull, weird and unique.. so Vai

It would be great if he could do some tracks on a new album using Acoustic Guitar,
and maybe he could make the album separated in two parts, just like the Fire Garden, but using one part acoustic, other eletric guitar, and it would be way way better if this album would be one from the Real Illusions!!!!
