Steve Vai chooses his winner of the 2009 Guitar Idol competition
Guitar legend Steve Vai can announce his chosen winner of Guitar Idol, the world’s biggest online talent search to find the hottest undiscovered guitarists on the planet is the Italian guitarist, Daniele Gottardo.
Organised by online magazine All Out Guitar, and Lick Library, Guitar Idol 2009 saw the public and professional judges select the best guitarists from around the world. The 12 Finalists came from all over the globe including, Brazil, Ecuador, Bosnia, Italy, Chile and were invited to play live in front of thousands at the London International Music Show.
A special award for the ‘Steve Vai Unsigned Shredder’ was created, and judged by none other than Mr Vai himself after watching live footage of the competition taken by licklibrary.com.
Steve Vai was blown away by Daniele’s playing, who’s track ‘ Cardiology’ he judged to be his overall favorite and worthy of the special prize, which was a Ibanez Jem guitar signed by the master Guitar Virtuoso.

I had the wrong person ...
I found an email with a link to the actual vid in my mailbox this morning,....
wow I feel like a dutZ,....but I 'll say the oriental fellow I thought was DAN,...played well.
Dan's stuff was pretty cool, I like his attack...
sounded neat.
