Here's the setup - the winter 2005 edition of UK Guitar mag 'Guitar Techniques' revealed winners of a readers poll, identifying the best players (in the humble opinions of many GT readers) at certain techniques. Master Guthrie then wrote and recorded a piece of music in the style of all of the consequent winners (including Eric Johnson, Pete Townshend, The Edge, BB King, David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, Van Halen, Vai, Satch, Jimi, etc.). This is an audio clip with photo stills for video. Enjoy!

Guthrie Govan Mimicking the Greats
Yeah, Satch on steroids!Jemfever wrote:Truly amazing!
When I heard the part where he plays like Satch, I just wondered for a while, if Satch has ever played that fast...
By the way alexkhan, do you know what guitars Guthrie used for the recordings?

No, I'm not sure. I suspect he used some Suhr guitars and perhaps his old PRS and maybe an ES-335. He normally uses a Cornford 5w combo at his home for recording these kinds of clips for the GT magazine columns.
I read that there was a transcription for it. It's some late-2005 issue. Maybe you can dig it out from your collection.Jemfever wrote:Thanx for the info.
I purchase the Guitar Techniques mag since 2001 and it's great.
Will there be a transcription of his parts in it?

Up until now I hadn't really grasped the full meaning of those two words:
Guthrie Govan

simply mindblowing.

Cool, I'll try to find it. Thanx.alexkhan wrote:I read that there was a transcription for it. It's some late-2005 issue. Maybe you can dig it out from your collection.Jemfever wrote:Thanx for the info.
