well, here's a bare stripped down list of bassists that i feel had an incredible influence on the instrument, in some sort of goofy chronological order.

Victor Wooten
there are lots of others i like, but those three are the absolute cornerstones of the instrument i think. most of my favorite bass players are local guys, Tim Goodwin, Jonathan Wires, that Sam guy, and CJ.

Leah Randi just became my fave bass player this past weekend. She's touring with Delerium and was just an amazing player. I put SO much mroe value into the groove rather than fireworks, tricks or overly-technical stuff and Leah was just amazing; you couldn't of blasted her out of the groove with a ton of dynamite.
