Legacy II help

Hello folks,

I just joined the forum and need some help from some of the legacy owners here.
I currently have this topic opened over at the Carvin forum as well as the Carvin museum with no comments so far. I thought what better place to come for do answers than here.
For years I have wanted a Legacy II, and was finally able to buy one for $400.00 CAD
It is in mint condition and the previous owner was really a stand up guy and honest.

So anyway.... I bought the amp about 2weeks ago and haven't played with it too much until last night. I was playing for roughly 2 hours at 25 watts going into a peavey 5150 @ 16 ohms.
When I shut the amp down I noticed the one transformer was so incredibly hot that I couldn't really touch it. I think it's the power transformer not the Mercury magnetics but the other one. I made sure that the correct tubes were selected on the rear bias switch as well.

This has me scared lol! My tubes aren't microphonic and don't really seem to be burning hotter than they should at first glance.
So basically before my paranoia sets in, does this seem normal? I know the original owner used a THD hot plate and now it has me wondering if it has some how stressed out the transformer.

Anyway guys any help would be appreciated, and much thanks in advance!

I don't think you can 'stress out' a transformer by using a hotplate anyway, but if you don't trust the thing, have it serviced - probably cheaper than a burned down house...

Any amp on for 2 hours the tubes/transformers would be too hot too touch.

If you think its burning tubes too much- the tubes are probably blown from being used with a hot plate for so long

It needs tubes and a biasing- if anything-

I also wouldn't recommend a 5150 cab.

Sheffield speakers=junk and kill tone.
Then on the other hand- I wouldn't recommend a Legacy II either- so anyway- do it up
