Big Mama Jama

Many of us Musician Institute students are hoping that the jamathon becomes an annual event. It was intoxicating and hard to leave. I was there for 48 to 50 hours of it (yeah, the blonde upfront that wouldn't leave). I only left when food and a power nap was necessary to stay vertical. It also serves an incredible cause. Most are not aware of the gravity of the foster care system in Los Angeles. I am also a Registered Nurse that has taken care of chronically ill hospitalized children in the foster care system. Not only are some of these kids dealing with medical issues that would crush your average adult, but without programs like the one the jamathon raised funds for, they would be all alone in this world. One day at work one of these little girls was pretending to be a gymnast in physical therapy. She looked up at me, and said, "Ms. Cricket, will you clap for me and pretend your my mom in the stands rooting for me." I don't think anyone's words have ever hit me to my core so hard. I discovered your music years ago on YouTube with my laptop, in the middle of the night when I was the patient in the hospital bed feeling pretty hopeless. Back then I was a fan of your music; now I'm a fan of Steve Vai the person. People in general are so quick to complain, but when you experience, or get a front row seat to someone still hanging on on for dear life that has lost almost everything, you live life on a deeper level. So, know how much what you did mattered. It also gives us Musician Institute students a huge motivation, wanting to strive towards goals to get better to play at the next event. Thank you for giving us a special weekend to remember, and for signing my guitar; you were a class act from beginning to end. Many fingers are crossed hoping to look forward to it again.

I hope if it happens again, they don't use Pledge Music to handle the donations and merchandise. I am out $2000 for an auction item that Pledge Music says they can't deliver on.

Apparently PledgeMusic are out of business...

"To the Artists and Fans of PledgeMusic.

As many of you know, PledgeMusic suspended operations a number of months ago. The company continues to work with outside counsel on the most appropriate next steps, and we will update you with those specifics as we get more information.

For you artists, we have prepared a link for you to download your data from the platform here. Click "Download All"

(Please note that due to volume these might be slower than usual to process.)

For you Pledgers, you can download your past releases archive from here.

Hey Folks, Steve here... I just wanted to let you all know that in regards to the Gen Axe PledgeMusic campaign, Gen Axe management has been working to acquire and verify records detailing who ordered what, what has been fulfilled to date and what still needs to be fulfilled for the Gen Axe and Jamathon campaigns. Gen Axe is still owed a huge sum of money from PledgeMusic that we assume will never be paid out, so like you and many other artists and their fans who are facing this same problematic situation, we feel robbed as well. All of your money is unfortunately still with Pledge and did not make it to us for the purpose of fulfilling your orders. At this time Gen Axe management is working on some kind of solution or partial solution for the people who have graciously contributed to the ill-fated Pledge campaign.

In regards to those who have supported the “Big Mama-Jama Jamathon” Pledge campaign, I can promise you that I will be fulfilling the Jamathon orders at my own personal expense as soon as we get all of the accounting done and I finish mixing the albums. I truly appreciate everyone who supported both of these campaigns. Thanks for your patience. Stay tuned for more info on all of this soon. In the meantime, I can't wait for all of you to hear the recently finished Gen Axe Live album! Thank you.
