what do you play from
It's an interesting question in itself. Which part of the brain do we consider the heart, and which part is for cold hard logic? The real heart is just a pump after all. It's weird how we all dissociate those two aspects of ourselves, but they are both in the same brain. It's like we have multiple personalities fighting for attention!
Hopefully both? It's an interesting question. I probably play more from the mind when I'm out of my comfort zone and have to *think* more just to get something that sounds reasonable. If I'm playing something more comfortable I don't have to think as much and can play more from the heart.

it all comes from my head- and i execute it with hands/fingers
i just try to play what is in my head... like my hands are trying to get out whats stuck in there

the melodies I hear come from the heart, whether they're dark or happy. But like Jeries said, when it comes to trying to pull them out its just brain work. Once it's out there, then the "heart" playing kicks in again and then it usually turns out fun to jam or solo on. I guess that's the basis of making a song, finding something fun from the heart, physically playing it until its easy enought to play it from the heart. Wow, that's confusing

if i were to play for you comfortably numb and solo over the outro from it

but if its my own stuff something i'm composing/improving/playing its more 'work' than 'heart' and its all from the brain....
