I've found one for £1,000. The retailer says it's from 2000 and has an ebony fretboard. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if that is fact, but it seems in great condition.

Is this worth pouncing on....or should I go for a brand new model...which is double the price?

I'd say jump on it! Unless you need rosewood to feel right! IMO the older ebony necks were made better and had higher quality craftsmanship. Plus that price is amazing. I would check to make sure it's original parts and bridge can be setup properly, knife edges are good, intonates well. But if it can be setup properly and feels good in the hands to grab it!

It's all original parts. Little bit yellowed from age, but I actually like that. So I've bought it. Should arrive next week. Will post pictures if I'm capable of working out how to...which is seriously doubtful!

there is NOTHING i would buy today new over something comparable used

music gear has such a poor value

a fender usa strat is a $500 guitar- they're 1200

a jem is a $1700 new guitar not $3000

there are no good values in music today

other than strings buy used

(well except an axe fx- by those new they're cheaper and better)
