that is AMAZING. Best replica of any guitar ive ever seen. Not just the relicing, but every single sticker! And then going to a printer to make certain ones! Man your dedicated! I think you should have got vai convinced it was the real green meanie, you could have sold it to him (as a story, of course) and somehow get something cool to happen (though what that could be, no clue)

Nice going :)

That is the coolest EVO story I've heard. 8)

I'm wondering if it adorns your wall as art, or do you play it?
If you do play, how does she feel and sound?

At the moment it is in the case, it plays like butter, has one of the best trems I have ever played, it has Evo's in it but the bridge sounds a little thin so I ordered an Evo 2 for it which will be going in next week, if that still sounds thin I will try a gravity storm. I wanted it to be playable as well as nice to look at (hence new pup's and alder body). I have had very expensive guitars that didn't play half as good as this guitar. Maybe I am biased as I have a huge amount of time in her, but I think anything you put so much of yourself into has to sound good? corny maybe...... I have eat, slept, and breathed this guitar for a long time, when I wasn't working on it, I was researching every detail about, it was an awesome feeling to finally see it come together, Vai's reaction, then you guys, and finally to get a solid chance to play it, although I felt like I couldn't do it the justice it deserved (my playing has a long way to go).

and thanks everyone for the nice comments!!!

it's going well, thanks for the nice words. In the years since I built this, my enthusiasm for this guitar (both the real one and my copy) is just as vibrant today as it was the day it was completed. I don't play it much but I sure love to look it, it is like having a piece of rock history (albeit a replica) hanging on my wall, and the memories of the build and meeting Vai are priceless. Vai is the reason I started playing guitar in the first place (and the reason I almost stopped lol.. he makes it look so easy...) but to meet someone who has had such an effect on the course of my life was / is beyond words...

The down side to the project has been that there are a number of crappy knock-offs people are selling, and even one company that is selling re-manufactured sticker sets to make your own... and the quality is terrible. Worse yet they are using my pics from here to sell their products. It appears they used my pics to make the sticker sets as well... I can't get them to take my pics down...

But at the end of the day if what I built helps someone have their own version than I guess that is not a bad thing? I am conflicted.

on another note, Vai is playing in november nearby and I am working on another build..... i already have tickets for the Evo experience!!! I am really excited to get a second once in a lifetime opportunity.

BTW: if you need any Green Meanie info I would be glad to share, I have a huge folder of the research I did- just PM me.
