Last night, I experienced a REAL Jem. It was a Bad Horsie one. I musta played it for 3 hours. That was the 1st time I've ever played one. Now, I don't have the money for a Jem 7v, are the 555's any good? I know the trem sucks, but I would replace that. What is a good street price for one?

I wish I could. My income isn't very steady! A 7v would be god.
Dear Steve,
Can you please "donate" any Ibanez Jem in your collection to me?

Darn, guess not. Steve, please? Pretty pretty pretty please?
I would save my money and get a real one. Even those have good ones and bad ones. I´ve played about 6-10 JEMs since I know Steve Vais music, and only 2 of them were worth it. The first one is EVO and the other one is mine
.
Try as many as you can, not all of them are good!
However, there are Vids of Steve on YT, where he plays a 555 neck. But get the real JEM, you only have to spend the money once and have a guitar for your life.

Well, I play clean all the time. I like that single coil charm, that a humbucker or splitting one just doesn't have. I'm a real fan of the Neck+middle tone, it gives you that SRV kinda tone. if I want a Humbucker tone, I play my Les Paul. I don't see why I wanted a 555, cause my Les Paul plays better then any Ibanez I've ever played.
IMO, I don't even like the whammy bar too much. Too much trouble.

I love a JEM for its looks. Scalloped 21-24 are cool, monkey grip=awesome, deeper lower cut away great because i've got big hands, Fretboard inlay is really cool. Neck is a little too thin, humbucker+ single coil is good idea, price sucks A LOT. Overall, I like it but, I don't. Its a classic for sure, but nothing is perfect.

I played the 555 and the 7v. The 7 v was killer compared to the 555 although I liked them both. I personally wouldn't want a JEM because i don't feel its me. I like the idea and the look awesome. I love the way they play and everything. I just like a guitar that is saying me, not someone else. But the JEM is the only signature i'd ever want. But I wouldn't mind having a Universe. That be sweet.
