I am thinking of getting a 7vwh but I was wondering if it would be better to get a 555 now, they now have DiMarzio pickups in them and it's half price.
I know the wood is different and the vwh has scalloped frets at end of kneck (plus the tree pattern fully extended).
Is the bridge different?
Are these differences worth the price?
I guess I need to go to the guitar shop and play both them a few times and check, I remember I did prefer the 7vwh but that was a few years ago.
7vwh vs 555
The bridge is different, but that used to be a bigger issue in the past.
The new, lower-end bridges have gotten a lot better.
Ultimately, if you really want the 7VWH, you'll probably end up feeling as if you're missing "something" if you settle for the lesser guitar.
YMMV....

Al is absolutly right. Those Jem7vwh 's are really incredible
and totally diffrent then the jem555 jem jr. I've had a 555
in the past but sold it and got a Jem7vwh later.
That Jem7vwh is not only a guitar to play but also
a piece of art

you can try an old rg 570 or 550 and you can change the pickups if you can't spend a lot of money, everything before 2000's year.
Jem are really so so good ,you can try in the used market ,a bsb or dbk they are cheaper than vwh.
Try before to buy

The guys who posted before are absolutely right.
Wait, save some money and go for the real deal.
I have a Jems 7VSBL and wanted another Jem( or Jem-like guitar)
as a spare guitar, but didn't have the money for a Jem.
I played a 555 and it just wasn't the same. I also have
two really nice old RG's with EVO's but they sound and feel
different.
Also don't forget, that if you buy a used Jem and decide to sell it
later, you have (almost) no money- loss. If you mod an RG
and try to sell it, you always lose money.
