Single Coil Buzz

#1 Post by mhuey1 » Fri Feb 25, 2005 10:52 am

I just got a UV777bk Ibanez and the single coil pickup has an annoying buzz. It's really load if I turn on the distortion and barely noticeable if I play clean.

I looked at the wiring diagram at Ibanez, and everything looks fine.

Can anyone help?

I heard that single coils have a natural buzz. Is that true?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Single coils buzz. It's just part of life. Move away from your amp, and try and stay away from electronic devices and lights.

Or you could use 2 single coils wired hum-canceling !

Thanks,

I don't know that much about wiring pickups together. How would I do this?
Would I stack them on top of each other?

that wouldn't work with a universe.youre pickup config is humbucker-single coil-humbucker, right? what varcon is talking about is for guitars with 2 or more single coils. what you do is install pickups that are wound in opposite directions, and then you essentially get a humbucker, but you can't do that with your configuration. there are also noiseles pickups that you can buy, but what you're getting is completely normal, i wish i could help you more.
