Solid tune..nothing groundbreaking but it's a promising start, I think they just did what felt natural here instead of "trying" to sound a certain way and played it a bit safe with this song, which is fine, I prefer this than if they tried to showcase Mike's chops in some crazy compostion or something...definitely interested in hearing the rest of the album, I think there's lots more where this came from....should be an excellent release!!

I like the song quite a bit, I think the guys and the record label are testing the waters like they did in the past with previous albums, and therefore this probably isn't the strongest statement on the album. I like the opening arpeggio, the keyboard parts and the solos, and Mike did a very good job on the drums - he complemented the song very nicely, without overdoing anything. It sounds a bit more progressive than the last couple of albums, a bit like an updated "Images and Words" approach, so to speak. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the album, really.

Sounds pretty good.
Liked that the drumming wasn't over the top.....

Superficially it sounds very typical, but I feel it has more depth than their recent material compositionally, so I'm really looking forward to the album.

Did any of you guys heard the album? I have to say I like it much more than the last one. I think there are of course some recurring themes from past records, but also some very fine (and fairly fresh sounding) musical moments on it. I'd say my favorite song so far is Outcry.

I listened to it on iTunes with a view to buying the CD but it just sounded so familiar and samey that I didn't bother buying it.

I love what I have heard, but I ordered the box set with the records etc and currently still waiting for it to arrive....hopefully it does before their next tour.

I miss Mike Portnoy, but Mangini is a good match for them.

JP once again proves why he is in my rank of top 3 guitarists with Vai and Satriani! 8)
