Well, if you want to be picky about it, GnR wasn't "GnR" either...lydian2000 wrote:+1. To me GNR is slash+axl rose, period.firestone wrote:but it's not guns n roses it's axl rose
Tracii Guns wasn't in the band anymore, so it should have been "Roses".
WOW IT WAS A BIG GREAT POSITIVE SURPRISE FOR ME!
Best songs so fare:
Chinese Democracy
Better (maybe my no. 1, excellent pop-heavy tune, also a little grunge feel in the start)
Sorry (BEST POWER BALLAD FOR MAYBE... 17 YEARS!)
IRS
Madagascar
This I Love
Some other great songs also.
I really like the vocal work Axl is doing on this album.
Maybe I had forgot he really can sing and not only scream.
E.g when I first heard "Sorry" I tought, - is this really Axl?
It sounded almost a little like Geoff Tate from Queensryche, some parts...
I like how Axl change his voice from very soft to the more well known "aggressively" expression.
Ohh, yes also some excellent guitar work on this album.
Dont know much about Buckethead, but I believe I can recognize him one some songs.

They want to sell this thing like nothing they've ever done, so that they can recover some of the excessive production costs...
I was never and Guns and Roses fan, but I bought this album because I was curious about it, and I think it's great.
No album can live up to 17 years worth of expectation, but I think this sounds really fresh and the production is fantastic. There's some tasty playing on there and Axl's voice sounds strong and versatile.
I wonder how much of it is new and old. Maybe I'll see if I can count the rings on the CD...
Not great enough for album of the year though... that still goes to Meshuggah for "obZen" - and I'm nearning time to deliver my final verdict for 2008...
