1, but there are about a dozen others all tied for 2nd place in my favorites list so i dont think a top 10 will work for me

all i know is vai himself said that eddie had a huge influence on him w/regard to 2-handed tapping, although he DID say that he was experiminting with that technique around the same time eddie perfected it and pattened it-hence the word(s) "rip-off".

oh i see what your saying. i would hardly call it ripping off though. vai's use of that technique is so incredibly different from eddie's. id think it silly to say anyone who uses that technique to be a rip off of eddie van halen just because he's credited as being the first guy to really make it popular 30 years ago. otherwise SRV is a rip off of Hendrix because SRV was influenced by Jimi and also played bluesy licks, and EVH is a rip off of the guy before him who was also writing pop rock I IV V progressions, etc. you know? it may be the same idea, concept, or technique, but it's applied in a new way unique to the artist.

I play guitar with my hands, so ... umm ... does that mean I've ripped off countless numbers of guitarists before me?

I didn't realise, I feel so cheap, I thought I was special
