I don't know. It's something natural to me and I can't stop doing it, it's becoming compulsory.

I second that, but sometimes you dont even have to show them you can play, you just have to mention it :)

Writing and playing music seems to be the only thing that really makes me happy. Like I'm high on drugs, but high on music.
Plus, it's a way from escaping many other tough things in life.

Maybe because it's difficult and there is always something to learn..............which is also probably why a great many beginners guitars are found locked in closets, on ebay and second hand stores.

1) John Petrucci
2) Dimebag Darrell
3) Kirk Hammet
4) Steve Vai
5) there's always something to learn
6) it's fun
7) it gives you something to do that won't get you in trouble (as apposed to drugs and drinking)
8) (<----that's supposed to an eight) the chicks dig it

that's actually in chronological order

Playing opens doors in my mind and it takes me to places I like to visit.
The only way to get there is by playing. It's an escape from my daily realities and allows me to regroup and focus.

Besides, chics dig it.

Simple answer: Because it makes me feel good. It makes me happy.

No elaboration is really needed after those statements, but yeah - it makes me feel good to be me. To know that I've got a talent at you know...SOMETHING! It's a good feeling. Plus, no matter how or what I'm feeling or going through emotionally, I can always turn to my guitar and have a healthy output for it all. Even if nobody's listening.
