No guitarist can afford to miss Ennio Morricone...
Angelo Badalamenti is another one to check out, although he's actually from the States, but his parents are from Italy & Sicily.

I second that, IMO morricone is up there with other 20th century geniuses.

What do you mean by Itallian? Does this include Sicilians as well? Do you also mean Americans of Itallian and Sicillian ancestory?

Joe Pass
Eddie Lang
Astor Piazolla
Al Di Meola
Steve Tyler

There are a lot. What is Itallian-American anyway? Itallians are American and have lived here as long as anyone else.

Or did you mean Itallians that live in Italy? What about the Chinese and African and all of the other nationalities that were born in Italy. Are they Itallian, or are they like Chinese Itallian, Greek Itallian or German Itallian.

Hey if I move to Millano for a year can I be put on the this list? Maybe I do not play good enough.

I have to nit pick here.

Italy had a pretty big progressive rock scene in the 70s

edit: for some heavier stuff
Dark Lunacy and Novembre are two bands I've discovered that sound pretty cool
