Anyone see the 1 hour special on VH1 Classic tonight? If not they showed parts of the new DVD. It looks really really good and I'm so excited! The Spirit Carries On was amazing as well as The Answer Lies Within. Can't wait until the 29th. Anyone else see it or was even lucky enough to see it live?
yeah i saw it and it was bad ass . Do you guys notice how buff petrucci looked , with the new beard and all he could be givin zakk wylde a run for his money
just playing .
seriously though the DVD preview looked totally sweet and i think it is going to be a must have for any DT fan . I know i am going to try and pick it up asap .

Yeah Petrucci is way different looking now. He looked so buff during the part he was co-hosting with Mike Portnoy. And it looks like he might be growing his hair out again.

You guys are lucky - VH1 Classic over here wouldn't come within a million miles of showing DT for 3 minutes, let alone have an hour long special on them. Their idea of 'Classic' is closer to Olivia Newton John or something like that. Still good to hear about the new DVD though.

Yeah, I wanted to watch that special so badly. Oh, well...no digital cable for me---I had a friend tape it, though.
Funny thing is that I'll get the DVD in a couple days, and not see the special until like a week later. I still have to see it, though.

I've never seen DT or even heard their music, just JP and I watched it with my girlfriend. It was overall enjoyable. I liked it alot. My girlfriend liked it too but said JP needed to cut his hair and spike it again. lol

I haven't really seen him that much with long hair besides his "Rock Discipline" video, I coulda sworn the long hair went out with his Ibanez guitar, lol

Anyway, I just wanted to know your (DT fans) opinion on this... Despite what the band said about Six Degrees the song, do YOU consider it a single 42-minute long song, or is it really a combination of 7 songs in 8 different tracks? I tend to think it is the latter. Your thoughts, thanks.

6 Degrees Of Inner Turbulence is ONE song.
On the 2nd cd of the studio album it's split in different tracks for obvious reasons.
It's ONE epic suite with overture(which includes all main motives of every phase of the entire suite).
Now you won't believe me but since I first bought the studio album, I have NEVER listened to the songs separately, I've always listened to it entirelly, I own the CD since it just came out and by now I know EVERY single note every single chord of it by memory. LOL
It's an incredible performance with the Orchestra behind on the Score DVD.
Well, technically speaking and musically speaking, Dream Theater are not human beings. Watch Score if you doubt it.

I totally see the second disc as 8 separate songs, there's not enough cohesion and continuity between the tracks to see it as one piece imo. It would be like saying that Metropolis pt. 2 is one song, just because there are recurrent themes.
Anyway, I used to be a huge DT fan, but for a bunch of years now I've been caring less and less about them.
