Mezmerise, i know its not metally, kind of technoey and in some places, crazy, but its by a metal-ish band. Thought it was way better than Hypnotise.

Not sure, but here's some more:

Buckethead - Inbred Mountain & Enter The Chicken
Novembers Doom - The Pale Haunt Departure
Soilwork - Stabbing The Drama
Nile - Annihilation of the Wicked
Hypocrisy - Virus
Immolation - Harnessing Ruin
Darkane - Layers of Lies
Dark Tranquillity - Character
Demons and Wizards - Touched by the Crimson King
Behemoth - Demigod
Cryptopsy - Once Was Not

Anybody got a link to a thorough list of 2005 metal releases?

I'll go against the grain here and say the best metal album was actually a funk album but just cos I'm in a strange mood I won't name it...ever...it's top secret...

Ok serious this time...

Metal album of the year: I'll go with the cymbal man himself and say:

Buckethead - Inbred Mountain, Enter the Chicken and Kaleidoscalp... (so a three way Buckethead tie).

Honourable mention: Black Label Society - Mafia

Comeback metal album: Judas Priest - Angel of Retribution

Progressive metal album of the year (although this one defies catergorization): The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute

I have to say Opeth-Ghost Reveries. It's just so unexpected!

It's a Bruce Lee reference; Enter the Dragon becomes Enter the Chicken

Mind you when you consider the album Inbred Mountain and the whole Texas Chainsaw Massacre feel to it all that is Buckethead maybe there's another meaning to the title...

 :?
