Seen him 2x & I love that man, his band & his music. I've been following Al's career since Return To Forever (get Romantic Warrior, & get it NOW!!!), & he could quite possibly be the coolest, or at least, one of the most accommodating, "famous" musicians, I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He's touched my life, & the life of my son, beyond what words can describe.
We also seen him on his recent tour, & he let us both backstage after the show. My son sat next to him on a couch, & played some Randy Rhoads for him on his little acoustic that Al signed for him. I about cried.
I'd met the band previously on the Flesh On Flesh tour, & they actually remembered me, esp. Ernie, because we chatted for quite awhile that first time. They were as nice as I remembered them, & they jammed something serious, no doubt.

I came across this as I was searching for some winter holiday music. It's called Winter Nights, & it's Al with bandurist Roman Hrynkiv & percussionist/guitarist Hernan Romero. Very nice music, perfect for this time of year.
It's on the Telarc label.

Thank's God I saw him on the stage in Hungary last year. He is a phenomenon not only his tehnics but he has a one-off atmosphere. I had not seen such a high level concert before that. As the matter of the fact I like all cds which he released.
Thank you Mr. Meola

I was so lucky to see Al play with Return to forever in the late 70's. I sat in the front row orchrestra pit at the Santa Monica Civic auditorium and spent the whole time 5-10 feet away from Stanley Clark. It was unbelievable, Chick Corea, Lenny White, Stanley Clark and Al.... They jammed for almost four hours and played brillantly. What was really amazine was they were all communicating thru their instruments to each other, talking back and forth, screaming in fusion language that only they completely understood. That was something I'll always remember because I was very young and being exposed to Jazz, Fusion with melodic latin sounds created a great need to hear more.... I would recommend any young musician to listen to these Greats, they are phenomenal!!
Thanks....
Thanks....

RTF were awesome; let's hope for a reunion some day!
On a side note: Check out Lenny White's Venusian Summer & The Adventures of Astral Pirates albums.
