Hi All

I thought I would remind those who may have forgot that Western Vacation is being re-released on Favoured Nations in the UK on the 21st June!

The re-release artwork has added "Steve Vai presents" which wasn't on the original '86 cover...

I just purchased it on iTunes. I hope that they publish Steve's essay on vai.com!

All these years I thought Steve was just a guest on a track or two.
He's listed as writing all the songs!

Sorry, maybe there's a mistake (or I'm misunderstanding it), but this is how they have it listed on Amazon:

1. Western Vacation - Steve Vai
2. Nocturnal Emissions [Instrumental] - Steve Vai
3. Fast Notes People - Steve Vai, Harris, B.
4. Send Us More Light - Steve Vai, Harris, B.
5. Patty - Steve Vai
6. The The Velvet Line - Steve Vai, Harris, B.
7. Delicious - Steve Vai
8. Borrowed Time - Steve Vai, Harris, B.
9. Burning Flame - Steve Vai, Harris, B.

I (mistakenly) assumed that the names listed after each track indicated the composer, as it normally does....

Taking a look at a shot of the back cover, it says the songs were written by Marty Schwartz and Bob Harris, with one exception being "Delicious", written by Tommy Mars.

I always believed Steve only contributed with the solo on the title track. Anyway I also seem to remember an old interview where Steve mentions at least the song "Fast Notes People" as one of those the Classified would perform back in the day. So, he didn't write the songs, but I think he performed at least that one live.
from the DiscoNotes wrote: Marty Schwartz is a very dear friend of mine and a great guitarist. He converted the garage at the Sylmar house (see Flex-Able) into a den of musical inequity, and lived in it. He would occasionally duck into my studio and record. This record he made is inspired. It's a fine collection of alternative entertainment. I did this wild solo on the song "Western Vacation" on my portastudio while on tour. If you like the the more stretched and bizarre side of guitar playing, you will surely get a kick out of this.
The Marty Schwartz little interview here is a great read too:

I can't wait to get a copy of the CD, especially for the new liner notes!
