back on topic, I finally received my copy! I've just watched it quickly last night and loved the commentary track, in fact the more I hear steve talk the more I appreciate him(humour, insights...and so on). stunning performances, images sounds...and the sound...the sound! it's like caviar, I think I'll have a slice every other day. at first I have to admit I had found the case(booklet?) very sparse....but relieved to see everything is on the dvd...I hope we wo'nt have to wait for three years for the next one though.

in one word: superb.
:D

got it the other day but have only just watched it and WOW

the connection between steve and the orchestra is fantastic! everyone plays to perfection and all play as they know exactly what theyre doing, what is coming and how to play it all. the emotion in the playing is really vibrant and you can feel it yourslelf by just watching, especially steve!
you can hear all the instruments of the orchestra seperately which is brilliant, alot of orhestras muffle out some instruments - not this one!
the only problem I had was that i felt steve wasn't quite loud enough, however by fiddling with the EQ im sure i could sort that out.
all things aside, this is a fantastic DVD with some of the most amazing playing and musicianship you will ever see.
steve never ceases to amaze! thankyou!

Dude, you don't know how many times that has been asked. People will get majorly POed at you if people keep asking that.

Just a warning.

This is another amazing piece to add to the Vai collection. The concert is absolutely beautiful. The interview was amazing. I could listen to Steve speak all night. And I have to tell you, it was the sweetest thing when he spoke of Pia, and wished her a happy birthday. So sweet!
If you haven't picked it up yet, go get it. It's stunningly beautiful. Thanks Steve for yet another piece of magic.
Mikey: I know I told you already, but fabulous job on the artwork. It's beautiful.

We've watched the DVD with & without the audio commentary & it's great. It's nice to see how certain songs look when they're played.

I just got mine today, and I've gotta say: IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!! The waiting was worth it. I just started smiling since the DVD started. The mix that Steve made is awesome, It was like being there, with the orchestra.

You can see the connection that Steve has with the orchestra, and really watch how much Steve feels the songs, I mean it's absolutely great, that's why he is my favourite guitar player.

Plus, the extras are really good, some dvd's do not have enough bonus materials, this one is an exception, great extras.

So to those of you who haven't got the dvd, go get it! It is worth every penny.

Thank you Steve!!!!!

Does anyone know the planned release date for the UK? It's been more than a month since the "official" release date and i haven't heard anything about it over here :?

Finally got the DVD today. I have seen the TV broadcast last year and that was amazing but to finally see the DVD after it's been through Vai's hands is just like the cherry on the icing. Brings me back to that show again. It was funny to see the footage back of us singing "Happy B-day" to Pia. Really was sweet of Steve to talk of Pia like that.
I'm really happy to see that this project (Aching Hunger) made it as DVD and CD. Thanks for that Steve, Co, Dick, Tom, Mikey, MO & NPS.

Wonderful performance

I'm Becoming / Salamanders in the Sun

I dont' know why , but this piece will always stand out in my mind for the rest of my life.

During I'm becoming, I commented to a friend watching it with me (the youtube version actually) that the sounds she was hearing were the culmination of 30 years + of the most blessed guitarist in the world's effort, experience, love, mastery and pure joy. And the gentle touch he was offering to the instrument was overwhelming to me.

I told her that it would be impossible for me to express what was behind that little piece other than it was "quite possibly the highest artform available" from a guitarist at the moment.

Thanks for everything you do Mr. Vai - I offer you my full respect and admiration.

I want to say special thanks to J for getting me into this music and everything to it. It is amazing and so are you. Thanks!
