How about holding a contest at Vai.com where members can post a song, riff, solo - whatever - dedicated to or inspired by Steve.

Mods and the big guy can judge. Winner gets respect .

Good idea. Although I don't think there should be a money-orientated prize for the winner. I think if there was to be a prize, it should either be something like some Vai merchandise or a spot on the site or something.

Or, you know, have Steve play the song on tour or to you privately

Or just a special message from steve or the chance to meet him

If there should be a contest like this, it should be amongst the vai members.... we shouldn't drag steve along, we should be happy if he just listens to the winner song.

1. One piece (but it could be anything -- from a lick to a full scale symphony )

2. 10-12 minutes max sound decent?

3. I doubt Steve has time to listen to so many tracks.. so.. poll it !
