#1 Post by mr_vai777 » Thu Jul 19, 2007 5:44 am

Any reason why? And why so late?

I just rang up The Academy and the dude on the speakerbox told me that the show will go on tonight, until 12 latest. The band have to stop at midnight which means there may not be a meet n greet (says this bloke) so I don't know whats going on with that. The show will go on though

'Travel Problems' meaning the tour bus is probably creeping down the Aston Expressway at 0.5mph.

The show is NOT cancelled. I've just come from there and the info I received
was:

"Due to unforseen circumstances, Steve Vai will now be appearing at 20.00, and the show will end at midnight."

I was also told that the doors will open at 20.00, there will be no support, and the EVO Experience will happen AFTER the show!!!!!!

I paid for an EVO ticket and, although I'm a little p****d off, having taken the day off work, I understand that these things happen.

However, I'm still looking forward to the show!

Hope this helps,

Blaze.

I think it's compensation enough that he's actually doing EVO considering he must be having a crappy day and will no doubt be very very tired.

Mr_vai777, I've edited your post and added 'NOT' to it, because as far as I'm aware, it's still on. I don't have any further information at this point unfortunately, but I'm sure everything will work out.

Sorry axlevs, I do not agree. It was a shambles. A rip off. So who is telling the truth, was it customs, was it transport problems, who knows. How long did the 'show' go on for? I had to leave along with many others. It may not have been directly down to Steve, but it was down to someone and they should stand up and take it on the chin. I feel I've been taken for a ride and I'm not a happy bunny.

Ah lads, this is getting a bit nasty. Do you not think that being held up by customs might be considered travel problems? I think we all understand enough about Steve to know that if there was any way possible to prevent what happened he would have.

I think you should count yourselves lucky you a show at all, In Febuary I travelled to London to take photos at a concert by Stream of Passion only to go the gig to find that 3 members of the band had been denied entry to the country by UK Immigration and the concert was cancelled.

Dear Leanne777, I would not say it is getting nasty. It is about being honest and not accepting second best. I hope Steve and his management read these forums. I had to travel to the venue, I don't live nearby. For me it was an hours drive. I was 'lucky'. I was next to one guy who had travelled from Somerset for the gig.
I do not know if you were there last night, but I for one am not prepared to accept being stood waiting for two and a half hours for the band to start with no explanation at all until 20 mins into the gig. I admit to being one of the many who 'booed'.
Conflicting messages being passed, not knowing whether the show was on or off. Sorry, that is not being nasty on my behalf, but those responsible for arranging it. Someone should have taken charge. I say again, for me it was a rip off. I was ripped off by the person who decided that it was OK to have the audience hanging around, taking loads of money off them for goods while they waited, (£2.25 for a bottle of water), then giving a show, which I'm assuming, ended at midnight after one and a half hours of entertainment.
