Over on the Dave Weiner board at the minute they have a blues jam up and running.

Basically we get a 12-bar blues backing track, and we record 12 bars each of us soloing over it. Someone records their solo, sends a link to the file back to the forum, someone downloads it, adds their solo etc. etc.

I think this is a pretty cool thing so tell me if your intrested and we'll work from their! :)

That's an awesome idea :D.
I wish I could play guitar. I would definitely take part in that thing.
Well actually I do play guitar but I suck at it.

It works exactly how he explained it. It just needs someone to start off and make the backing track and record their solo over it. I'm in. I guess you could spice it up a little bit, but the more you spice it up, the less people who are going to be able to have fun soloing over it, so keeping it simple is probably the best bet.

I guess what I really wanted to ask is:
What format should the music be..mp3, .wav.....?
I use Cakewalk to record with so for me, .wav would work the best.
what about the others?

I think it's a great idea. It should at least be attempted so we know what works and what dosen't for future projects like this.

For transferring purposes .mp3 would be the best.

So if we have an intrest in this I can start working on getting a backing track together. Depending on how many people take part I can alter the length of it.

And I think blues would be the best as everyone has probably played some at some point! :)

Ok heres the deal,

I've set up an account on Audio Street.net. It might take a day or two to clear the site and then we're up and running! I guess when someone adds their solo they will send the file to me and I'll post it on Audio Street for the next person to download and solo. etc. etc. Everyone ok with this?

Now about the backing track..I'm thinking key of E? I'm guessing everyone will be alright with that! :)

Ok, I've got a slow jam track and a fast one. What does everyone think would be best?

I'd love to do that, but I don't know how to record stuff onto my computer.

I'd go with the fast backing track, personally.

Maybe a short Lydian vamp would be better?
