Check this out: know that oriental-sounding-woman sample steve uses in the blood & tears? Well, i was playing diablo II and on the harem levels on episode 2 the music has the same samples. but different pitch and arranjements of course! It's spooky.. i went "what the hell waht's vai's music doing here?" it's pretty cool.. go listen..

Is it because Steve used samples for his recording? So it may be a case of why is Game music on a Vai album?

Those samples came from a library available for anyone to use, as long as you credit the publisher.
Take a closer look at the credits of UZ, and you'll see them mentioned.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure the link is for the actual sample CD-I seem to remember it contained several CDs and was about £100. But it was something similar. Sample from it were also used by 'Enigma' and even Tangerine Dream.

Ha, ha, yes indeed I remember him! He and I were original members of the Vai Mailing list (now Yahoo Mailing list) which pre-dated this message board by a good few years. I think I have seen him post in in the last couple of years. He was still in Silicon Valley if I remember correctly. Were you on the original mailing list, Deyo? If so, remember Jere from Finland?
