Did Vai ever record anything with a Les Paul or Strat?

Discuss Steve's guitars, set-up and equipment here. This forum is not for discussing general guitar topics.

I think there are version of a paul with some sort of tremolo.

Have you ever heard P90 pickups in a Jem?

I think, he was using Strat in Alcatrazz. I'm sure that Alcatrazz song: "Jet To Jet" was record on Strat, but I think it's Ibanez, not Fender or something else.

Hand On Heart was recorded with a Strat. Steve mentioned something about how hard it was to contain the 60 cycle hum :)

i though warm regards might not have been played on a jem.. not just because of the warmness in the melody, but after Steve plays the melody high up the neck with bends and a hell of a lot of feeling he drops down a bit and plays a few notes with pinch harmonics which sound much dirtier than they would on a Jem. we all know Steve can hit a pinch harmonic so it squeals!

BTW the Vai tracks on In From The Storm (Hendrix tribute) has some of the best strat tones...I think it's notated in the "Axology" here on this site.

And speaking of Neal Schon, his new Les Paul signature is coming soon (with Floyd & Sustainer). NAMM 2004:

Man I didn't realize what a sweet rockin guitar god Neal Schon was for quite a while, until someone told me how wrong I was. The guy is a totally smoking guitar player; he plays fantastic licks.

-PS, I think Al DiMeola uses a whammy on a les paul for like one lick somewhere on his Casino CD.
