Hey guys, I was thinking about getting a Legacy, but I heard of a three channel version being made. Steve was also using a V3 during rehearsals for the tour for the idea of the third channel, I assume.

Does anyone have any idea when its coming out? Was going to ask him at Evo but I forgot. Thanks guys :)

There haven't been any official details leaked about this amp besides that he's working on it. It'd probably be a safe bet that if it isn't shown at winter NAMM 2008, it won't be out 'til winter 2009. That is pure speculation, but I don't see Carvin unveiling a huge product at summer NAMM. Also, since Steve didn't seem to have a prototype for this last tour, I'd say it's a ways off yet. Again, that's speculation.

I talked to a rep at carvin when I called the other when I was having issues with my power tubes..he told me they're hoping to have it out by next summer..along with the custom grills..

You know, you are probably correct. It first appeared in the Octoberish 05 catalog.

Did some digging. The prototype was revealed during winter NAMM '05.

There's a picture of it on the day for Thursday.

Hilarious! They just revamped the website last night and apparently they took down NAMM 2005. It forwards you to 2007. Oh well. It was there yesterday. There was a picture of the amp with a label "V3 Prototype".

I guess they figured no one would want to go back and look at previous NAMM stuff. I was able to find it on the internet archive:

Or go here and click on the namm 2005 link:

Indeed. The current look of the Legacy head is fantastic and unique. I hope they stick with that direction.

I don't think this will be like the V3 except for possibly utilizing the midi capabilities. The V3's two distortion channels are identical. I can't see it taking this long to add an identical distortion channel to the Legacy.

At Evo in Boston his Legacy Amps were picking up radio signals...

Was going to ask him if the new Legacy's third channel was a radio tuner :D
