Actually there are some differences. The track "Answers" on the DVD/Video is an edited version of the longer one available on the CD. Also, the Eric Johnson segment has different tracks on the DVD/Video than on the CD. "SRV" is on the DVD/Video while "Camel's Night Out" is on the CD. And, the G3 seg...

"Touching Tongues" has been my all time favorite.
"Whispering a Prayer" also has left a special mark, specially after seeing it live, twice.

Pre-order? I thought that today was the day the CDs would've been released. Now we have to wait until June 20 or 24 to get them? Even more days until you actually receive them after shipping. More like July.

If Steve does release something in a multichannel audio format, it would be on SACD. Because Sony Epic does not support DVD Audio.

Joe Satriani has released two albums on SACD: Engines of Creation and Strange Beautiful Music.

It would be great to listen to Steve's music in surround sound.

I noticed this after a year of owning the CD. It clearly is Steve saying "YES!". That's one of the thing that I love about Steve's music, that after hearing the albums tons of times, you can discover little hidden things like this one.

I've always loved S&R. I got into SV right after P&W, and S&R was the first Vai album that I was counting the days to its release. And I've been the same ever since. Touching Tongues is an absolute masterpiece. There are some Vai moments that I will remember forever, and the fist time I listened to ...

I have most of the songs on their own cds (Angelica, Billy Sheehan, Gregg Bissonnette, Ghosts of Mars, Bad Squad, Al di Meola, and the japanese releases of SV, and most of the tracks specified on the list of the new cds). But the purpose of the Archives CDs is to have all of those songs together in ...

Really rare Steve Vai songs

I'm wondering if we can come up with a list of really rare Vai songs, and see if Steve can tell us their titles and maybe, release them on a box set cd. 1. The song that plays on the ALS video credits and on the ALS DVD menu. 2. A blues song that came on a guitar magazine in 1999 3. A techno song th...

I don't have this on VHS, but I have a double cd from this concert that was released in Europe or Japan. I think that this was the first time that Steve played For the Love of God live, if I remember correctly.

Re: The Next Tour - You Tell Us...

Cool! I've been to 4 Vai shows (G3 96, Vai 99, G3 01, G3 02), and they were amazing! Specially 2+ hours of Vai only! Answering your questions, Mike: 1. I love the ballads, so I think a 50/50 mix would be right. 2. Less vocal songs. I would like to hear "Alive in an Ultra World". 3. As for the durati...

I've seen "Whispering a Prayer" live twice. First time at the G3 Austin TX in July 2001, and second time at the G3 in Monterrey, Mexico in May 2002. Awesome performances! Steve is simply incredible while playing this song. For me, it was the best of the set list for the G3 concerts. And what was bet...
