No disrespect, but I find John Petruccis books "Wild Stringdom" and "Rock Discipline" extremely boring.. Not inspiring at all.. Just chromatic exercises throughout the book. John Petrucci is a great guitarist, I think he should have put some more actual licks in his books... there are just lines lik...

Shader, I pick like that sometimes too..

But if you trry the way I pick, I guarantee you will shred like crazy in a few..

Theoritcal, your way will take longer, since the pick cross the whole next string and then pick up..... Hard to explain, but I guees you understand me

If you are playing 3-notes per string scales, I suggest you pick

D U D , D U D , D U D on every string, in other words; every new stirng you hit should be an DOWN-stroke.. I think this will increase youre speed
at no time.

Those who haven't heard the Alcatrazz stuff with Yngwie should check it out.
I think the Yngwie era is much more cooler than the Steve Vai era..

This doesn't mean I think Yngwie is better than Steve, it's just the fact that I think Steve do better as a soloartist.
