Re: Steve's hand painted jem/strat

Besides in the "Machines" sections of vai.com, more detailed photographs of these two guitars can be seen here: "Cherry Blossoms" http://www.theguitarvaults.com/guitars/28e17df6d24e2db798b69bb48eb57a2d This is the other one (Steve's main choice between the two): http://www.theguitarvaults.com/guitar...

This one is definitely one of your very best, Paul. Honestly, it's amazing. You're even getting better at it, if that's possible. Congratulations, really!

Re: How Can I Make My "Pinkie" Stronger & More Articulate?

I would say the techniques that usually strengthen your left hand fingers are bending, legato and maybe certain types of vibrato. Now, I don't think bending with your little finger is of any use, but I would certainly concentrate on trills. I mean, fluttering between your 1st and 4th fingers, 2nd an...

Re: Steve Vai Guitar Techniques 'Review'

Gavin, thank you so much for this post! I would so love to take the course at some point... maybe one day! I enjoyed your audio (and video-from previous posts) clips very much, your playing sounds very "vivid" to me. I believe Steve has the most vivid playing I've ever heard, but I think you're on t...

Re: VaiToones

Thanks for sharing your pictures, I like them very much. I find there is a "lightness" to them not only in terms of the actual light they possess, but also in terms of "lack of weight". I also like the colors, too. In fact, I think they give you the impression that the band members are almost "float...

Re: VaiToones

Hey Seraphim ,
thanks for the picture, I sure like it very much, it's different than what you usually see with regard to concert photography and it's very nice.
By the way, did you get a new camera? Looking forward to see all of your other photos! :)

If I didn't go out of my mind, that's what Steve said (in Rome, to be precise). :)

Re: FLO III with a BLACK SUSTAINER

And what is that kind of black rubber, that's on volume knobs? It's black tape. Steve is using it on the volume knobs of the guitars he's using live for two reasons: 1) to visually make it easier to adjust the volume (since backing it off also cleans up distortion without losing signal power); 2) t...

Re: FLO III with a BLACK SUSTAINER

Steve was getting something that sounded like ground wire noise from Flo III at soundchecks in Italy. I have no idea why, but at first even Xavia was acting a bit like that. It's funny because when Thomas handed Evo to Steve, there absolutely wasn't any kind of noise, so Steve kissed and caressed he...

Re: Merch?

If I remember correctly, at the shows in Italy it was the black TSOL tour T-shirt, the blue T-shirt, the pink t-shirt, Vai hat, a couple of pick boxes, tour program, autographed Vai poster (the image is the Larry DiMarzio photo for Weeping China Doll from the TSOL booklet), and a few CDs, mainly the...
