Who would you like to see Steve jam and or record with?

Personally I would love to see Steve play with John McLaughlin, and in my opinion only (so don't feel that you have to defend anyone) John is one of the few if only players that are in truly Steve's league.

This is one thing that I have always felt sets Steve apart from the pack. I won't name names, but there are a few that come close to Steves technical prowess, but what you hear are a lot of notes, speed and technique and little emotional feel. Steve seems to be a guy who wears his heart on his sleev...

Thank you Mod 777 for your response. I tried doing a search, but it's too varied and the PC locked up on me while searching. Anyway I e-mailed the venue and asked them this: The folks with Steve Vai said that camera use was up to the venue. I just want to be clear so as not to cause any trouble. I c...

Can I take non flash pictures?

I am going to the Buffalo show shortly. I understand I can't take flash pictures during the show, but what about pics without a flash. I have a new digital camera, but I am no expert with it. I imagine though that you could take a picture with no flash. But the question remains, I have seen many pic...

I would have to agree, that was well said. I try and teach my son one thing and that is that you don't have to like all styles of music, but you should listen and appreciate the talent that goes into it. There are a million great players out there in all styles, broaden your horizons and you may jus...

I have to say that I am surprised that on a Steve Vai forum one rarely hears the name John McLaughlin. I will venture to guess that it's because the majority are under, lets say 40. Anyway my point is that when I discovered Steve, it was as if John Mc. had a son. Steve's sprituality I believe mirror...

I had been playing for about 5 years and was listening to a wide variety of players and was really aware of a lot of different incredible players. Things like Tommy Bolin playing Quadrant 4 with Billy Cobham, Les Dudek, all the usual rock fellas even so far as a jazz guy from Norway I think by the n...

Daves CD

While doing a search, I came upon this thread. Perhaps this is mentioned elsewhere but according to an e-mail I got from Dave:
My cd should be out sometime in May. I’ll have a new site up as well.

In response to the Steve Morse thing, I really dig steve morse. And I completely understand what you're saying. Missy There are many songs that do that to me, like "Wispering a prayer" but since you mention Steve Morse "The Bash" from the Dixie Dregs California Screamin album and "Runaway train" fr...

I don't know if this is the first song I "learned" but it's one of the first I attempted. Someone at a camp I went to had a Led Zeppelin songbook so I tried to play "Rock and Roll", having never even heard the song at the time and not being able to read music I went by the chords shown. I played a s...
