Sorry, I just found the guys playing to be amateurish at best. On his old site his sample song is Black Magic Woman and he doesn't play that correctly either. My point was if you are going to charge money to teach people how to play guitar you should at least play the sample song correctly and in tu...

Is it fair to post this?

I don't recall offhand how I came across this web site but I thought it might be something to save for my son who is just starting guitar lessons. Perhaps he could learn something from it. When I went to the samples page though and saw what this guy was doing, my jaw dropped and my ears hurt. At the...

I don't know if you would classify it as a "fear", and I'm certain it's common knowledge, but when Steve greets the public during a tour he wears gloves to avoid potential germ carriers so he can remain healthy for the tour.

Okay, let's be honest, I'm not so good!

But perhaps I can get a little positive feedback and advice here. I have been playing guitar for 30 years or so now, I have progressed little in the last 20 except for little bits here and there. I am completely self taught, when I was in my formative years I cut the fingertip of my ring finger, fin...

What is Steve doing in this picture?

I have always wondered exactly what he is doing here. Is it basically a capo type move by holding the frets at the 2nd or 3rd position or is it just a way of muting the strings while he does his thang?
Any thoughts?

Re: Steve's necklace......

Why does Steve always wear that necklace and why is it important to him? (You know, the silver one with what looks like a ring in the middle) I noticed that he wears it a lot. ? I accidently found your answer on E-bay. Apparently it's to hold his shades! http://www.autographpros.com/july/p-vai,stev...

offtopic side comment: Vai is not a god. He's a person. He's an amazing guitarist and an even more amazing musician, but i'm sure theres plenty of people out there who could show him a thing or two. You're probably right, and I think Steve would be the first to tell you that. I posted this comment ...

I have now! :D Thinking back on it now, if you were to change the time and place most of us have met him, and put him into a natural setting, better yet if you didn't know that he was "Steve Vai" virtuoso you would come away thinking "that's a really nice guy. Very down to earth and truly, except fo...

He signed my guitar!

What a gentleman. He signed my guitar :D He asked me whose sigs were on it and I told him there was Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughn, Rick Derringer, Steve Morse under the pickguard. I forgot one and he asked who was on the horn, I said, oh...John McLaughlin to which he replied "Wow! Real...

It was disappointing that Dave and Tony didn't show after the concert, still my hats off to their efforts. Actually Dave and Jeremy did show up. Dave styed by the door and talked for awhile. Also a very nice guy. I aksed him where Tony was and he was surprised that he wasn't there as he was "suppos...

Re: HAIL STEVE VAI AND CO

Steve had a little trouble with his guitars a bit all night, but it didn't matter to me. Good night all. A perfect review from Slimshady. He mentioned a little later that he was having trouble because of the sound in the venue. He said the stage was kind of large and it was messing with his sound a...

Swedish bass guitarist extraordinaire, Jonas Hellborg. John McLaughlin was playing with Jonas when I met him and got my guitar signed. I was outside the dressing room waiting and listening to them warming up. That was quite a treat, I haven't heard much from Jonas lately, but it truly was a treat, ...
