Man this dude is good!

I found this accidently on the web of course. I tried to do a search to see if it has been posted but there were so many possibilities that I decided just to post the link. Mikey show this to Steve, maybe he's met the kid in Japan or something! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=149151690167044...

Yep got mine yesterday as well :D not as much playing on there though as I had hoped. Still pretty cool to watch Alan Holdsworth rip out a couple of licks. The interviewer says man that was really good, Alan looks disdained and says that? That sucked! I wish I sucked like that! (That could sound rea...

Re: Does Steve Vai charge for autographs?

Steve signs autographs very kindly and patiently, even more than you can expect! And for free of course ;-) That is so true, I have seen other people sign things and had quite a few signed for me as well. Steve is a pleasure to watch because he gives everybody the time of day. I think it's the peop...

I think when you've been playing as long and often as Steve has the callouses are much deeper and don't soften as quickly and easily. He did say that when he recorded FTLOG he hadn't played in awhile and he had to get his callouses back up. If yours are deep enough than water isn't going to hurt the...

I need finger exercises for a lame finger

When I first started to learn to play oh so many moons ago I clipped the top left corner of my ring finger (as it's facing you) off with a knife slicing stale bagels improperly. Within a week I did the same thing all though not as bad to the middle finger. The middle finger healed within a week or 2...

Would Steve look like Abe Lincoln if he had a beard?

I always thought that Steve had the same facial structure as Honest Abe. I was watching the Alien Love Secrets DVD today and noticed that during The God Eaters, he looked very Abe like (silver paint not withstanding) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/4f/Abe_Lincoln_young.jpg http://www.gand...

Someone has told me that in the past too... However, it certainly wasn't true when i met him...He had no glove on when I shook his hand! When we were at the aftershow he had the gloves on, perhaps right after taking a shower or in a large crowd, I don't know. But I did ask him if he would take the ...

Gloves? Well, Steve seemed happy to shake my bacteria/virus/spore ridden hand and chat face to face as I, no doubt, sprayed him with droplet nuclei infected with all sorts. Are you sure you're not thinking of Michael Jackson? I'm pretty sure I'm not thinking of Mike, as it's what Steve told me when...

John McLaughlin DVD

A post in the All about Steve forum got me to do a search on Johns web site. It appears that he is finally putting is putting out a 3 DVD series of master class lessons on how he plays. Until Steve puts one out, you couldn't do better than to get this one as well! This is very exciting! Not cheap bu...

When I met Steve earlier this month I told him we would love to hear him play with John. His reply was that "oh, I could never keep up with him". Now Steve can be pretty coy when he wants to, but I would think that if something was cooking he would have made allusions to it at least.

I have always thought that it sounded like he was able to play a ton of notes and it seemed like you never heard any picking. Smoooooth.....!
