Re: Steve talks about his upcoming record "The Story of Ligh

But isn´t this album part of the Real Illusions -trilogy? Steve talked nothing of it. Why? Thank god someone else noticed and not just me! The whole 'this is part of the trilogy' thing is confusing me (mind you, I'm easily confused). If you had written the second part of a trilogy and were asked to...

Re: Steve talks about his upcoming record "The Story of Ligh

Love these insights. Interesting to here how he comes up with melodies and uses different instruments to perfect it.

Not long now until I have that CD in my grubby little hands..... :guitar

Re: Uk dates

If it's the second part of the trilogy, why is that not noticeable in the title of the album? I'm sure the very early news about the album mentioned absolutely nothing about the trilogy aspect of The Story of Light. Plus, if it's part two of the trilogy, how can you release The Moon and I on VaiTune...

Re: Uk dates

The European tour for G3 isn't quite as extensive a tour as Steve normally does, I would expect the usual UK/European leg of his solo tour to be much larger. Quite how he's going to find the time to do that this year is anyone's guess, but I would suspect it might be towards the end of the tear, or ...

CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE PROMO

Classic Rock Magazine are doing a special Steve Vai Issue promoting The Story of Light. Not surprisingly, I haven't seen any news of this on the site (despite Steve employing a full-time 'Online Marketing Director'). So, here's the link. http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/get-steve-vais-new-albu...

Re: The Official 'Secret Jewel Box' Thread

Great riff. But prefer Leave it Alone. Cracking tunes! Ah, the orchestra work. Don't get me started. Tried to watch that YouTube clip of the Middle of Everywhere and, sorry to say, it's just nonsense. If you're looking for new music, try listening to some of the samples of Mark Tremonti's new solo a...

Re: 5150 settings dillema

Good advice from above. I thought I'd found my favourite tone with the legacy and DS-1 through a GT-6. I left it a week or so, then decided to try Steve's Legacy and DS-1 settings and, hey presto, completely new sound which I absolutely love. It took me a while to figure out my EQ and compression se...

Re: The Official 'Secret Jewel Box' Thread

I'm not sure I'll be doing the EVO experience again. I think once you've done it once, that's it. I couldn't stomach another "how did you learn how to play guitar" discussion. But for first timers, it's a blast. I had a great time. Surely someone could ask Steve for his official plans for the bookle...

Re: A SINCERE and REAL THOUGHT about Steve Vai

I think Steve Vai is a brilliant guitarist with a truly unique voice on the instrument and a rare understanding of dynamics and sound, but I think he is completely underrated as a composer. His serious work, when he actually composes music instead of just backing tracks for his soloing, is amazing ...

Hell, taking into account Joe's recent albums, I could probably cut heads with him on a G3!

Re: What does Steve Vai think of Guthrie Govan?

Great player he is, of that there is little doubt, but to me Guthrie just does not have any of 'himself' in anything I've heard. He doesn't sound like Guthrie, he just sounds like other players he is mimicking. The appeal goes out of the door for me, then. When I hear Steve, or Nuno, or Kotzen, or S...
