Re: Jemini, Legacy 1, tone disappointment

Thanks for your reply. I actually agree on the amount of distortion you say Steve uses. Same with Nuno Bettencourt. He actually uses a lot less than you would think, they just make their fingers work harder. However, I've been playing around with the Jemini and am a bit disappointed. I might try and ...

Jemini, Legacy 1, tone disappointment

After a long time, I've finally managed to set up my Jemini through the Legacy 1 head into a 1960 Marshall cab. Firstly, I put the Jemini through the dirty channel....sounded flabby, muddy and crap....so did a bit of research and now see that I should have put it through the clean channel. But I'm n...

Re: Rig Update

I can see, quite easily, how some folk find the whole thing a bit weird. At one point, Steve was promoting his distortion pedal, which he said was amazing.......then he promotes a new amp and say the distortion on it is so good that you "don't need" a distortion pedal. That, quite frankly, is slight...

Recent Vai gig...

Haven't posted on this board for a while. Not a huge fan of the new album, or the orchestral stuff....but I saw Steve in Leeds on Friday night and was blown away. I've seen him plenty times, but never seen him more energetic. Fantastic performance and an even better 'thank you' to the crowd through ...

Look at that fretboard! You could cook your dinner off it!

Awesome. Well done!

Absolutely. I just find what he's doing now as, well, not that great.

Anyone know why his Sony deal wasn't renewed? Did he buy himself out of it?

Re: Well... Let's hear some opinions on The Story Of Light c

I wouldn't call the argument about his compositional approach as "nonsense". It's a totally valid discussion. There are plenty of fans on the board who would rather he just went back to playing guitar songs, such as Fire Garden, ALS. The whole orchestral approach to his work now is a little mundane....

Re: Well... Let's hear some opinions on The Story Of Light c

He was always more of a composer than a rock guitarist. Don't agree. I didn't read too many interviews during the ALS/Fire Garden/Sex & Religion days where he talked so much about his love of composing. The composer stuff has only been talked about in the last seven years or so. Frankly, it's becom...

Re: EVERYONE LISTEN UP

in 1996 i bought a copy of Total Guitar for the tab of 'Blackbird' by The Beatles. Steve was on the cover looking super cool with one of his Jem's 8) the cd that came with the magazine had ' The Crying Machine ' on it and i loved it. I bought that mag as well. The CD was awesome. If I remember corr...

Re: Please come to Glasgow, Scotland Steve !

As you all know Steve would love to play everywhere, but sometimes it's not up to him. It's all based on numbers and routing :( Hopefully some of you from Scotland can come see Steve at another venue somewhere close. I don't think Steve will give up the guitar anytime soon, so I'm sure he'll make a...

Dreadful tone. Like how he plays Gravity Storm, though. Makes it look so easy. You often forget how MASSIVE his hands are.
