I just saw Pat Metheny

So last night, myself and two of my friends saw Pat play at Duke college in North Carolina. It was his trio and he had Antonio Sanchez on drums and Christian McBride on bass. It was CRAZY. They were so tight and Pat's technique and creativity was just perfect. People often say that he is cheesy and ...

dude, if it's not too late, let me give my oppinion. I have had this amp for a few years now. It is just amazing. Yes, it's more of a rock and blues amp, but try putting a pedal in front of it. I did that for a time when I wanted to get a nice shred tone, but even the regular lead tone sings and has...

Phrasing Tips From Paul Galbreith

Take the given phrase and put spoken words to every note and say the phrase to yourself in rhythm but not on pitch. Try to craft the phrase t...

Jeff Skunk Baxter and Steely Dan

My friends just turned me on to Steely Dan and they are amazing. They are one of the tightest bands I've heard, which is amazing since the bands line up changed for every song. Jeff Skunk Baxter is an amazing guitarist. If you haven't heard them, check out the songs Black Cow, Aja, My Old School, Ki...

DONT go in and try to play some shread-head classical piece. Flight of the bumblebee or anything by paganini will get you laughed at. You will be expected to play classical music on a classical guitar. you know the type... with the nylon strings and everything. get a teacher to watch you while you w...

It is mahogany and simi hollow. Other than that, it is a pretty standard tele. The guys at the store that i got it from set it up so perfectly. It pretty much plays itself. That and my strat are so perfect. It's the tone I've always dreamed of. On that note, I should mention that I go for a tone tha...

learn how chords are built. the best way to approach soloing in jazz is to know the changes and the notes in them. you will generally be using the notes in the chords, so just start there, and as you get better, you will step away a little more.
