John and Jonathan are two completely separate names. Jon is short from Jonathan.

Wow, will it really be £13.99 for 4 hours of Vai DVD footage? My university term will be so fun this year! (I may not learn much, though, since electronic engineering doesn't have much to do with guitar playing!.)

It is more like G3 than G4, since John Paul Jones is on bass.

Talking of which, he may not look much like a rock star anymore, but JPJ and the other members of Led Zep basically DEFINED how to live life to extreames in the debauched rock star world.

Jimi, he was a cool showman, as is Steve, and I think they'd get on well together. SRV was very close, though.

What's that, Terry Bozzio was with Zappa as well? That's pretty cool, with Steve, Mike and Terry. What is his best work? Does it sound like what he does on Sex and Religion (I'm talking about TB here.)

I'm going to have another listen to that song. Funny, Steve never came to mind when listening to it before.

Funny you should say that, Nick. My friend who saw Vai in Manchester said he had rather a lot of gain, and the slike dobro with all that gain was rather too trebly for his liking. It would be quite cool, I think, to see a show with a range of musical styles, like Eric and then Steve. Oh well, I live...

Try ESP guitars, maybe the M series if you want a locking trem. Also, try Carvin.

Yes, if you reckon you like the tone of the PRS guitars because they have a lot of wood on them, definitely try a Les Paul, it's a pretty similar story ie big heavy guitar with killer tone and stustain.

50 was probably quite a good placing for Jonny Greenwood (well, he should be in there somewhere.) Richard Thompson is also quite good.

I don't seem to remember seeing Al Di Meola, Eric Johnson or Steve Morse around there either. It's just stupid.

If you're replacing an Iby pickup, a dimarzio will definitely be an improvement. The fred apparently sounds slightly like a single coil.
