So your not influenced by Steve, or other players then? I agree to chasing your own sound but is it a crime to understand why someone like Steve plays the way he dose? Sure I'm influenced a bit by him, but also by a zillion other artists. It's not a crime to understand why or how he plays, but ther...

My new babies! :)
http://www.wamplerpedals.com/bsmpedal.htm http://www.wamplerpedals.com/echo.htm The Brent Mason Hot Wired is the best OD I've ever played through...The left side is an overdrive and the right side is a clean boost that you can add grit to. Made my Peavey Classic 30 sound like a modded Marshall. Real...

Let me clairify something. I didn't plug in to his legacy rig. I stated earlier I played through an amp that was his. It was a roland 2x12 jazz chorus. Thomas nordegg set it up and then handed me a cable. Although I had my pedalboard with me I didn't use it, and used no effects. However my tone was...

Being that he played through the amp, actually making the noise, I would call that first hand knowledge. You hearing the sounds coming out of the amp I would consider second hand knowledge. So you're saying that when Steve plays live, that is not an accurate representation to the concert goers of h...

+2 For Jeries, I think he's more than qualified to comment on Steve's tone because he has firsthand upclose experience :peace Not to beat a dead horse, but do you not think being present at a Steve Vai show is first hand experience? I was 5 feet from the stage. Does it make me less qualified to spe...

i dont get why some things are still being questioned... several people have agreed with me about the Gain thing... DominitianX owns a legacy...i've played through STEVE VAI's amplifier fired up by his tech of almost as long as ive been born... and we're still being second guessed by people that ha...

So you're saying the settings posted by Carvin either A) are not the settings he actually uses or B) that the gain setting on the amp between 7 and 9 is a mild distortion? I'm willing to bet that if he was playing for that many hours in a row at the rehearsal, he wasn't cranked up to full concert vo...

I can answer from my first hand account an experiences- His tone isn't created by or with distortion. Overall his tone is much less overdriven-distored-and Gainy as most think. Can you tell us then where you got this information from then? He certainly does use distortion which does affect tone. Ev...

I've seen him live twice, and his sound is certainly very gainy and overdriven.Jeries wrote:OK... And your basis is a video you saw on youtube?ZappaIrl wrote:to say that steve's sound isnt as gainy or overdriven as people think.....is fairly wrong....just listen to the jemini demo.....its as distorted as you can get!!!!!
