little question regarding octatonics

How do you notate them??
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and the 9th is an octave? or is there a degree that repeats itself(wich i doubt)? :?
I use octatonics almost all the time but i've always had this doubt...

thanks in advance

Just try to get some lessons though - you don't want to have a 'wrong' way of thinking ingrained - it will be more difficult to fix this way... You shouldn't really say 'frou frou' music schols - these places contain the best musical minds (and talents) in the world... Yes, most of the tutors are a...

undeserved? Erm, if someone achieves something, they deserve it. The only way to achieve something is to work until you have the skill/knowledge... Yes i hope you are over modal definitions - this is basic.. I went to the Moscow State Conservatory.. what kind of music school did you go to? Em(b6) i...

An Em6 has a C# in it... try again ;) I'm assuming you meant Em(b6)?!! Defining chords in modal terms is weak (e.g. Em6 aeolian). You would get a good telling off for this at music school, son ;) well Emin6(aeolian) is one correct way to name the chord, unless you don't know the modes, but I'm assu...

Someone arranged the Beethoven symphony for him. He just wrote the basic melodies. Same with early stages Mozart. Nice try, though. Any arrangement of the notes C E G B produces a C major 7, regardless of how the notes are spread over the instruments/across the pitch spectrum. Intervallic density i...

Re: Hybrid Chords

Hi folks, I was listening to the commentary for the Sound Theories DVD last night, and noticed Steve mentioning the use of Hybrid Chords for The God Eaters. I believe he said they're formed by stacking chords on top of each other - sometimes 9 notes with no doubling. Could somebody give me a little...

What appeals to me the most is intuition, creativity, and improvistion. That is how I play. Sure maybe before I knew that the b5 sub was already christianed I arrived at it and re-invented someone else's wheel, but I tell you I had a hell of a good time doing it by my damn self so even though you f...

haha true, but it's the interesting things people can do with harmony what matters, using advanced harmony for the benefit of the song's feeling(see pain of salvation or vai), not just making complex stuff for the sake of it, wich is very common, I often end up doing so...
