Read this only if you have patience..

Hey all, I've written a lot of posts on lack of motivation but this one will probably be my last. Here's the current situation I'm stuck in (if there are any self-serving compliments here, it's to prove a point): I've been playing guitar for over ten years + 4-5 years of piano and I've been listenin...

Hey fortheloveofgod, My laptop has the same specs as yours, and LE barely runs on it. See if you can upgrade your RAM. LE is excellent, straightforward, easy to use and a great introduction to computer recording.Seriously, unless you're composing a symphony it has everything you'll need (besides wha...

I think the terms "genious", "virtuoso" and "innovator" are thrown out too hastily, but on the other hand, that his guitar playing is "judged" unfairly in that his style should not be approached with a magnifying glass and a stopwatch. Santana has enormous FEEL. He's a -great- entertainer, has a uni...

The way I see it, when these guys were alive their music went hand in hand with their on and off stage personas -- for better or worse. MtV and the like were constant reminders that they were human beings just like the rest of us. We heard their music through the filter of the man/women behind the m...

Here's my new routine: 1. Scales (focusing on ones I don't know yet), warm up excersizes: 30 min. 2. Legato - 30 min. 3. Sweeps, tapping, alternate picking, string skipping: 45 min. - 1 hour (focusing on what I can't pull off yet) 4. Improv to CD's and backing tracks: 1 hour + After that, when I'm w...

Welcome to the forum Lord of Shadows 8) ! Just a thought.. Swap the pickups for Evolutions.. add a fernandes sustainer (that's where it's at).. if you have any dough left over, maybe get the Keeley Ultra DS-1?.. Try to work within your budget to get the widest variety of sounds so you can explore yo...

Jason Becker

I just wanted to say that I've never been moved by anyone in my entire life as much as I have by this guy. Maybe if we wouldn't be spending trillions playing fighting games overseas we could crack the DNA riddle of ALS and Jason would be able to play guitar again. As truly amazing and inspiring as h...

Ebow, sustainiac, sustainer.. any other options?

I just messed around with a friend's Ebow Plus.. holy crap.. what a amazing little toy! I LOVE the harmonic mode and you can get really nice (although rather weird sounding) arrpeggios. The sustainer/sustainiac pickups seem incredible, but sort of expensive and a hassle to install. I've played throu...

Time management..

Anyone else in the same situation? I've been playing for over ten years now. I'm pretty good, but not good enough technically. I spend more time thinking about theory than reading up on it or practicing scales :? . Example: Sweep Arrpegios.. At the moment, I can pull off a few nice ones every now an...

Steve.. LIVE!

A question for the forum members who've had the privelage to see him live: How are Steve and the band outputted to the audience? Are his shows quadrophonic (360 degrees), in stereo.. ? The reason I'm asking is because the live concerts I've been to rarely resemble what the bands sound like on CD or ...

The BBE sonic maximizer plugin really gave one of my compositions character and intensity. It made everything sound "richer" and less thin.

I'll definately be adding the rack version to my guitar rig when I get some more dough.

Highly recommended.

I like it.. a lot ;)

It sounds deliciously evil with a digitech whammy down an octave.

However, if I had more $$ I'd probably buy the Bad Horsie 2.. it's a much more versatile pedal.

9/10 for the power wah.

Tip for getting great sound out of solid state amps..

This is a simple way to get a phat, layered stereo sound -- for all the broke musicians out there who can't afford a tube amp: What you'll need: 1. Two solid state amps (any will do.. they don't have to be the same brand/make) 2. WH1 pedal (sends out two signals = dry/wet) 3. Compressor 4. 5 cables ...
