JS players ---tone control...

Just curious as to how different JS owners use the tone control to get that Satch tone..Do most of you guys have it opened up fully, or rolled back a bit or halfway or what? I usually roll it back about a quarter of the way.

well i was wrong on the euphoria . List price went up by 300 . so it is more expensive and is now made in china . I tried the Euphoria...I have to say it was not the best acoustic I've played..the tone was thin and brittle and it was not very resonant...I don't see how Steve made it sound so good o...

It has way to much for me. You can go anywhere from Satch and Vai to Megadeth or Dream Theater easy. You sold yours right? I've tried it and I have to say, I was very impressed by the crunch channel...didn't seem to be too much gain...Actually, I noticed little difference between the crunch and ult...

I haven't bought the 1 hour DVD on how to play like steve vai so you can stop reading right here if that's all you want to know. Now if I can give you some advice that would be to ignore posts coming from angry people because jared2720 is obviously having a bad day. My second advice is if you have ...

I don't think emotion should come into it. You learn it first and when you play it, if your into it, it will be naturally emotional. It dosen't take anything special to be able to do it. Emotion is only a small part of a very technically challanging song and who, honestly, is going to care about it...

It's not about knowing which notes to play as much as it is knowing why they need to be played. Not sure I understand what you mean. If your learning a song it's all about which notes to play. Agreed..why do we need some sort of psycho-analyses of each note we play? The 'why' is because I WANT to pl...

I don't think you can "teach" somebody how to play "For the Love of God." Sure you can!...Why the hell wouldn't you be able to? You obviously are personally in charge of adding the nuances, but why can't somebody show you the licks from that song? Is it some sort of impossible-to-play opus on a 9 s...

Is this Vai DVD worth a purchase? (Tommy Angelo teaches)

Some of you guys must have ordered from www.metalmethod.com before....anyways, here's the link: http://www.metalmethod.com/steve-vai-guitar-lesso...

Re: Right hand agony Q

Hi, folks. A question which has become increasingly worrying; I recently switched my .73 mm pick, which I've been using for ages, to a 1.17 mm one, for the clarity of tone and more intense attack. After just a few days of playing 2-4 hours a day, I now have a shooting pain in my right hand thumb, f...

I bet you guys with perfect pitch can not tell 5 cents off 440 Hz. Right you are. That's not really what perfect pitch is about. It is a very organic natural ability. It's not like becoming a human strobe tuner where you know how many cents a tone is off from A440 or whatever standard. It's not tha...

Chasing the early Smashing Pumpkins guitar tones...

you know, before they got wimpy...On Siamese Dream and Gish, they had such heavy, chewy, thick distorted guitar tones...any effects pedals, distortion boxes etc that would help to get that thick buzzsaw oversaturated tone? I remember having a Pro Co Rat pedal one time and coming close with my SRV St...
