Re: Vai Band for 2011 tour

I have never been a huge fan of Billy Sheehan's playing...the guy is showy but totally lacks feel. For bass, Bryan Beller was great, Bynoe was even better, but my dream would be to see Doug Wimbish in Steve's band, though I'd be a bit torn as it would mean putting Living Colour to one side for a bit...

Re: Whats going on with Vai Tunes ?

With ALL RESPECT to Steve, I get the vibe that with all the unfinished projects (Passion & Warfare -book, The Jewel Box, Real Illusions trilogy, VaiTunes + many others) Steve may easily get excited with his ideas and eventually doesn´t have the time to bring them into reality. Luckily he has the te...

Re: Bass guitarist and drummer for Steve Vai next band?

I have never got Billy as a bass player...he is waaay too busy for my tastes and just doesn't groove the way I want the bass too... My ideal bass and drums line-up for Vai's band would be: Doug Wimbish on bass, though it would be stealing him from my favourite band Living Colour! Simon Phillips on d...

I've heard of a soundcheck hitting the limit of a dB meter - in this case 136dB. Now that is loud!

It wasn't that loud. It was some where in between 105 and 108 db. That is pretty loud. I think either is a pretty loud. I'm not sure about that, also don't remember where I read something about european laws, that talk about maximum noises at concerts that was 90 or so, or I probably have dreamed a...

Kind of a silly question: Was it very loud? My four year old son is a big fan of PG and Jeff Bowders and I've taken him along to other concerts wearing ear protectors designed for the shooting range (the headphone type). I've been to a few concerts where that would not be enough though... That's no...

That is pretty loud.
Assuming this is dBA, that is really about average for a gig...a little on the loud side, but nothing scary.
