Hey, Yngwie is not a JERK. How come he is one of the biggest guitarist of all time? In terms of weight, I'd say that yes, he's the biggest guitarist of all time. But really, the fact that he's good at playing guitar doesn't mean that he isn't a jerk. They're two completely unconnected things. Criti...

Very, very cool.

Can I just ask, though - why did you buy a Jem if you were going to get rid of pretty much everything that makes it a Jem? It's more like an ESP in concept, I'd say, with the EMGs and the fixed bridge.

Yeah. Remember Steve went to Berklee, which is renowned for its specialisation in jazz.

There are lots of scales used in jazz. The superlocrian is one I've seen used a few times, which if I remember correctly is something like:

1 b2 b3 b4 b5 b6 b7.

Fun, eh?

BTW, what's AIAUW?

I don't know how many of you guys actually get it, but Guitar Techniques (a mag over here in Britain) does a monthly thing called Guitar Gym which is full of good excercises to improve various aspects of your playing. They do various aspects of sweep picking quite a lot and I'm gradually working my ...

I do dislike the inlay on a K7, but that's really the only thing that bothers me about it. I wouldn't buy one because it's mahogany, and like some previous posts have explained, it's not ideal for a 7string. But yes, it does come with a regular trem bar, and if you want a tone control, put one in! I...

Your favourite pickup combination?

This has probably been done already, but as this is mainly I think an Ibanez guitar user forum, what is your favourite pickup combination for your HSH guitars? I've just bought a Breed neck, a Breed bridge and an HS2 for my RG570 - how do you lot rate this combo and what are your personal favourites?

Various Ibanez Trems - Lo-Pro, Edge, Lo-TRS, Single Lock etc

What's the difference between all these? All I know is that in the 2002 catalogue the Lo-Pro goes on the most expensive RG, Jems, JS and so on, then the cheaper ones get TRS trems, then the cheapest RGs like the 270 get the Single Lock. I've also heard that the TRS sucks as a trem, and yet Paul Gilb...

RG570 help

Hi again guys...not been around here much lately. I've recently scored a secondhand RG570 (my first Ibanez-yay!) from a friend, which I haven't seen yet - picking it up next weekend. Now I got a really good deal on this, so I ain't bitching, but the friend said that the wiring may need a little atte...

Funny you should mention this now...I get a magazine called Guitar Techniques here in Wales, and they did a workshop on Marty Friedman and his odd scales recently. They covered the Hirajoshi, the Spanish Gypsy and the Iwato, among others. Guitar Techniques is a great mag - check it out. It has somet...

I've always wondered about that - how can a sound be brown? It just shows how hard describing a sound is - when is a sound 'warm' or 'creamy'?

I know what kind of sounds these words describe, I just think it's hard to describe a sound with words.

I use Tortex .60s. The fattest pick I've used is a Gibson 1mm bass pick, which I loved, but I lost it a while back. I could never play with a 3mm or even 2mm pick - I need flexibility in my picks. I can still alternate pick damn fast with it though. I don't sweep - I'm an economy/strict alterate guy.

Yes, but for five grand plus each you'd expect them to be pretty special. I don't know what they cost in the States, but I wouldn't have thought they'd be much cheaper.
