Re: The Official 'Secret Jewel Box' Thread

There will be a separate disc with the appropriate artwork / letter on the spine later this year. Jeroen, is it actually going to be the same disc(s) - just with different "box-specific" artwork? Or is there a different disc coming? I have the box and am just wondering whether to buy now or hold of...

Generation Axe!!

I was at the Generation Axe show in Vancouver on April 6. If you are a guitar fan, you have to go!! I think they have taken the G3 idea to the next level here. Not only do you get individual sets from each player but they overlap and play with each other as well. Also, the finale is not just a jam b...

Re: Steve's one night only reunion goes down the drain

I'd be surprised if it doesn't happen in some form. Just today I read (http://melodicrock.com/articles/news-fe ... ammy-hagar" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) that Dave's VH contract is up and he'd like to do something with the Eat 'Em band).

Re: December 12, 2015 - Tony Macalpine Benefit Concert

I was there as well. I actually live in Vancouver but the flight down was reasonable and I didn't want to miss this one. Practically every guitarist I grew up trying to play was there. Awesome show. It was also cool hearing or reading about attendees like Sheehan, Portnoy and Eddie Trunk calling it ...

Re: How loud is a Steve Vai concert?

I think Steve's shows are always a bit too loud. I'll always remember the first time I saw him solo in a Toronto club on the Sex & Religion tour. My nostrils were vibrating with each bass drum hit. I generally bring the squishy ear plugs.

Re: John the Revelator dropped from the setlist??

They didn't play it in Vancouver Oct 5 though Beverly opened the show. Perhaps it's not working as well as he hoped. It's tied in tightly with Seven Seals which would be tough to pull off live without the choirs.

Re: 5 Sept 2012 Fall Tour - Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver,

Great show as usual and Steve was on fire. I think my single favorite lick was a little thing he did in Whispering a Prayer, which to me sounded like a giggling baby. Deborah started the melody on this song and that sounded amazing. Steve was standing back to watch her with his hand on his heart and...

Re: Well... Let's hear some opinions on The Story Of Light c

Hi all, I find most albums have to live with me for a bit before I form an opinion. Not the case with this one. I was listening with a smile on my face the entire time. 1. The Story of Light - I love this! Usually tracks this dense show up near the end of Steve's albums. They are always the most rew...

Re: EVERYONE LISTEN UP

I first heard him on the Alcatrazz "Disturbing the Peace" album which I picked up at a record collector's display set up in a local mall. I was just getting into guitar music in a big way and Yngwie was the immediate reason for the album purchase (though I knew he was no longer in the band). Steve V...

Re: Naked pass

Hi. I also have the Wild Things vinyl set and Naked Pass. I'm hoping to use it in Vancouver in October. Any instructions?
