Re: What's the point of reversed bridge pickup in the neck
i have an evo bridge in the neck position in one of my guitars. imo its the best neck pickup for overdriven amp sounds,no mud just a lovely clear very hot neck pickup. the regular evo neck pup is a fatter/vintage type tone and i would say a better all round pup for clean and overdrive. i knew for ye...

Re: Help me decide.. in depth JEM discussion!
i have a love/hate relationship with evolutions but in the right guitar in to the right amp they can sound great.for me they work best with a 250k volume pot ymmv. the gravity storm pups are my favourite at the moment, cant get a bad sound out of them.highly recommended(and ive owned a lot of dimarzi...

Re: Help me decide.. in depth JEM discussion!
i would agree just buy used and sell if you dont like. ive had 2 jems a `89 floral and a 2008 7vw there both great guitars. to me neck profile is very important and the older the jem the more i like them.the older ones have a narrower thicker profile whereas the newer jems have really wide thin neck...

Re: What is wrong with my amp?
so regardless of what you do the amp stays on the clean channel? i would say there is a problem with either the channel change switch or the footswitch jack on the back. the other problem is perfectly normal. when on standby voltage is only applied the the heaters for the valves, there is no ht volta...

i think they are very similar sounding amps.
the 100b has a less compressed/more open sound and i believe is similar the the ecstacy classic

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
so the second head's EQ is rendered completely obsolete? that would explain the weird settings. So where do the 3's come into it then? surely it must be the same situation but with different model heads right? so does that mean there's 4 feeds from the pedals in the loop? yes thats right, none of th...

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
the power amp section on the 2nd head is used for the stereo split,so you simply take the 2nd(normally r/h side)channel out of your fx processor or pedal if it it has stereo outs, into the fx loop return of the 2nd head.

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
thats great, glad you like the amp. imho the only downside of these amps is they dont play hi gain chords to well due to the high bass content.i always overcame this by backing of the volume pot on my guitar to get a cleaner crisper rhythm tone. nearly everyone ive seen sets there amps up like this o...

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
total and utter rubbish, raising or lowering the signal through the fx loop will not ever damage an amp.many amps have fx send or fx return level knobs.Jeries wrote:Nothing is stupider- or more damaging than those stupid attenuators that are a volume knob put through the effects loop
don't do it

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
re the master volume, imho its just not needed, anything used in the fx loop with a volume control will do the same thing
