A re-do of Melissa's Garden?

I hope I'm not offending anyone by putting this out there... Melissa's Garden is a really magical track, but the mix is a bit rough for me. I know that Steve doesn't have the time to look back, only move forward, but it would be really great if he ever could see his way to release a remix of this tr...

Re: Jem Design Contest loser.

Mackattack - looks great, very striking! I can tell you must have a lot of hard work into it. I've always wanted to do my own custom paint, but back when I had the guts to attempt it I didn't have the resources. Now I simply can't afford the time. Congratulations on an excellent piece of guitar art!

Re: What I learned at my private session with Vai

Man I am SO jealous. Not just about the private session experience, but of your guitar playing skills as well - great work on that video / tune!

Re: Rush in SF Bay

Very cool to see one of my other long-time favorite players (a member of Rush no less!) sporting a Vai shirt. I wonder if Alex ever spends any time playing along to Steve's material...

Thanks for the pic / link!

Wow Brian (emercavox)! You have a lot more self control than I do. I'd have gone ballistic on both of them and probably ended up being taken away by police. That's just insane!

Re: First post - to say hi and talk about a few favs

Thanks for making me feel welcome! I don't mind a board that is a little on the slow side. Sometimes it can be better than the ones where if you miss a day there are 20 pages worth of stuff you have to catch up on. When a board has a bit of a slower pace you can take your time to getting around to r...

Re: My interview with Tony MacAlpine

Awesome, thanks for the link. I saw Tony with Derek Sherinian a few years ago and they totally kicked A**! Tony is a precision player live, moreso than I expected. Very clean and precise picking/fretting and I really dig his live sound. He manages to cut through without being overbearing or clipping...

Re: Top five steve vai songs?

Man, tough choice with so many, but... #1 - The Riddle - probably an odd choice in some people's eyes, but there is SO much going on in this song it probably took me 50 listens to really catch it all. So much experimentation with the instruments in the background and so many layers to peel through. ...

Re: Tender Surrender and Purple Rain

I've never really made that connection and it never occurred to me until you just mentioned it. But now that you do, yeah the opening riffs / melody are kind of reminiscent of Purple Rain in way. I'm not a Prince fan but I have nothing against the man as an artist - he did some noteworthy things wit...

First post - to say hi and talk about a few favs

Hi everyone! I've been putting off joining the board for a while now simply because I've been trying not to distract myself by belonging to too many social sites already, but it's about time :) Thought it might be a good idea to qualify with some background before joining the community discussions h...
